Sorry, these models have been discontinued. This page remains for reference only. The photo to the right shows one extreme example of breaking into your full size Chevrolet Express or GMC Savana van. The thief pry's into the door under the handle to get at the lock rods inside the door. Then, they force the rod to move and unlock the door! In this case, they used enough force to break the bottom portion of the handle off and remove the lock completely. > Another popular method is to "Punch" the lock straight into the door cavity. This is also very easy to do since the handle and lock holder are all made of plastic! It's fast, easy and quiet, making this a favorite among thieves. What's the solution? Read on... |

< The photo to the left shows a Jimmi' Jammer® plate mounted to the backside of the door handle. The plate surrounds the lock cylinder and covers the seam between the handle and door metal, blocking access to the lock rods inside the door. Not shown here is the circular clamp we provide for each lock cylinder nor the lock stop bracket. The clamp surrounds the lock holder and greatly strengthens the lock holder assembly, making it even more difficult to break in. Read on... |

The photo to the right shows a handle where the lock was "Punched" into the door. >> Why do they pry in or punch the lock? On some vehicles, the factory alarm will not activate when entry is gained using these methods. The alarm is triggered at the door latch, so the alarm brain thinks a key has been used to unlock the door because the rod moved at the latch! With the Jimmi' Jammer® installed, the lock assembly is shielded from prying and punching. Even if there is no alarm though, punching the lock is simply one of the easiest ways to gain entry without attracting much attention. |

The kit for the GM Express and Savana vans also comes with our Lock Stop™ for each swing open style door. The Lock Stop™ provides a backstop for the lock cylinder to prevent the lock from being punched into the door. The photo to the right shows the inside of the cargo door with all kit components installed. The lock assembly is near the center of the photo with the plate and circular clamp surrounding it. The Lock Stop™ butts up to the lock back and is bolted to the inner door skin. This prevents the lock from being punched into the door. Update: We now use a long screw as the Lock Stop™ to allow length adjustability. Still provides the same protection, but allows some adjustment for better fit. Note: The Lock Stop™ is used only on swing open doors as the sliding door does not have room for it. On the sliding door, only the Jimmi' Jammer plate and circular clamp provide protection.
